When I read the synopsis to Forty Acres I was instantly intrigued by the premise of the title, my mind automatically went to a dark place. I expected the book to be dark, violent, and overcast. Though it had sprinklings acts of violence it was not a major playing point in the story. I think that the author did a great job of his telling his story of "what if" and the way that the different characters especially the protagonist reacted to different scenarios was very believable. I don't know if I was just anxious to get to the plantation aspect of the story or if it was a slow start but the beginning of the story didn't move as fast as I would have liked. I won't give away any of the story but I will say it was definitely worth the time spent reading and I will read more of his work.
